Egyptian Army Rescues Ethiopians Held In Libya

A group of Ethiopians who had been kidnapped in Libya arrived at Cairo airport on Thursday after Egyptian army forces rescued them, state media quoted Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as saying. But one Ethiopian in the group, and a Libyan source, appeared to cast doubt on that version of events, saying the men had only been held up by Libyan immigration. State TV broadcast live footage of Sisi greeting about 30 Ethiopians who had arrived on an Egyptian government plane. Ethiopia Veterans Wants Apology, Compensation From Italy

Ethiopias Nile dam to start power generating power soon

April 4, 2015 (ADDIS ABABA) – The construction of the over four billion dollar Hydro power plant known as Ethiopia’s Grand Renaissance Dam being built along Nile river is in full swing, an official said. The massive dam project is being built in Benishangul Gumuz region’s Guba locality, a vast, arid land some 40 kilometres away from the Sudanese border. The Nile dam project covers an area of 1,800 sq km totally turning Guba and other localities at the region in to a huge power plant construction site. Taitu Hotel was destroyed by fire accedent

A major fire accident that started earlier on Sunday has ripped through the historical Taitu Hotel in Addis Ababa. The blaze that engulfed the city’s first hotel has caused a massive damage on the property that opened its doors to business back in 1907. A Dire Tube reporter has witnessed that many of the hotel’s rooms, its historical pieces and a bank office that belongs to United Bank were completely burned down before firefighters put out the fire.
